Services
Available
Students often have concerns about the
way they are handling the pressures of college life. Worries about
relationships, grades, choosing a major, or just stress in general
can sometimes leave you feeling dazed and confused. The Counseling
Center offers assistance to help you perform better academically, to
cope with your emotions, and to be more effective in your
relationships with others.
Note: Services are available to students
enrolled at Arkansas State University. All services of the center
are confidential, consistent with the State of Arkansas Counselor
licensing law, and the State of Arkansas Psychologist licensing act.
The Center staff strictly adheres to the ethical codes of their
respective professions.
Personal
Counseling
Many students decide to
participate in individual or group counseling. If you decide to take
part in either type of counseling, you and your counselor will set
goals so that you know what you are working toward. Counseling
offers you the opportunity to explore yourself and your environment.
As a result, you may choose to change the way you think, feel, and
behave so that you can make the most of your time at ASU. If you
are worried about stress management, depression, anxiety, grief or
have other concerns, please call on us.
Career Counseling
Haven't chosen a major yet?
Don't know exactly
what direction
you
should take? Well, in career
counseling we say, "If you don't know where you are going,
you'll probably end up somewhere else." Let us be your
guide as you explore your career interests and
possibilities. You can take a series of career and
personality inventories that will help you better understand
which career field should suit you best. Your counselor
will interpret your inventory findings and help you explore
your options.
Academic
Counseling

Learning is a skill that
some of us have mastered better than others. If you are
having difficulty performing in the classroom, come to the
Center for learning skills training. We can help you with
test anxiety as well as test taking skills
